PITTSBURGH — Mars School District can now claim to have the best high school boys hockey team in the state for Class A. The team beat Bayard Rustin this afternoon, 4-1, to capture its first hockey state title, and pay back the team that kept them from the title last year. The game was played at Mellon Arena.

Mars' goaltender Tyler Stepke was stellar, stopping 36 of 37 shots on goal. The only shot that got past him came with just 38 seconds left in the contest.

Also outstanding was Rob Sigurdsson, who had two goals and an assist for Mars.

Bayard-Rustin outshot Mars, 37-20.
