Wiest Audiology
Wiest Audiology and Hearing Aid Center was started in 1992 by audiologist Evelyn J. Wiest McIntosh.
It provides diagnostic hearing tests, hearing aid evaluations and fittings, hearing protection, assistant listening devices, custom industrial ear plugs, and industrial hearing screenings.
In 2002 it purchased the Professional Hearing Aid Service from Lori McCorry and Mike Spohn.
McIntosh continues to serve patients at 208 Point Plaza, in the rear of the plaza off Route 68.
The center, which serves adults and children, is open Monday through Friday, and evening appointments are available.
McIntosh also makes home visits, and she works closely with the medical physicians in the community, office of vocational rehabilitation and most major insurance programs.
Her goal is to provide complete hearing health care to patients in a trusting and professional environment.
Two staff members, Karen Isovitsch and Shari Wiest, are available to answer questions about any services, which includes helping walk-in patients who have emergencies.
The center provides warranties, lost and damage policies and follow-up maintenance on products it sells.
It hosts workshops with audiologists from hearing aid manufacturers to demonstrate technological advances in different hearing devices. It also does industrial hearing screenings.
McIntosh graduated from Indiana (Pa.) University with a bachelor's degree in speech and hearing. She earned a master's degree in audiology from Clarion University.
McIntosh is board certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
She continues to obtain continuing education credits annually to keep up to date on new technology.
