Westinghouse

The nuclear power renaissance has begun, and it has begun here in Western Pennsylvania and at Westinghouse's new global headquarters in Cranberry Township.

As the leading provider of nuclear technology, fuel and services to plants operating throughout the world today, our latest technology, the Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power plant offers a viable energy solution for the future.

With four new AP1000 plants already under construction in the People's Republic of China, and dozens more planned for construction around the world, it is clear that nuclear energy is an environmentally friendly energy solution that produces zero carbon emissions and helps to answer the ever-growing demand for electricity.

In recent years, nuclear production costs in the United States have decreased as production costs have increased for coal, gas and oil. This low cost of production places nuclear energy in a most favorable position for the construction of new plants.

As a result, U.S. power companies have announced plans for about 25 new units; over half of which will be the Westinghouse AP1000.

To prepare for this unprecedented growth, Westinghouse has hired more than 4,000 new employees in the past four years and now employs more than 14,000 workers around the globe. Westinghouse is hiring engineers of all disciplines: project managers, procurement specialists and radiation technicians, services and maintenance workers and a wide range of craftsmen.

Westinghouse's nearly 1 million-square-foot campus in Cranberry already houses 1,200 employees, while 2,000 remain at the former headquarters site in Monroeville until construction on other buildings is completed early this summer.

In addition, more than 1,300 employees work at sites in Blairsville, Madison and New Stanton. Westinghouse also has major operations in 12 other states and in 15 countries worldwide.

Westinghouse is proud to play a significant role in providing a solution to the demand for clean electricity. Building additional advanced nuclear plants like the AP1000 will enhance U.S. energy security and provide future generations with safe, clean and reliable electricity.
