Chicora Medical Center

Recognizing the need for cultural changes in nursing homes, Chicora Medical Center began a journey of self-discovery and change in 2007 that continues today.

As a part of its battle against the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness and boredom often suffered by nursing home residents, the Chicora Medical Center is committed to a culture of empowerment, self-choice, meaningful relationships and opportunities to give as well as receive care.

Animals and plants grow and thrive in our home, fueled by the love and tender care of residents and staff. Laughter fills the hallways and the variety and spontaneity of everyday life is not only encouraged, it is cherished.

Residents, families and employees relish in the companionship and love found in the smaller, more intimate neighborhoods that comprise Chicora Medical Center. The members of each neighborhood are empowered to make their own decisions on such topics as holiday celebrations, home decorating and the recognition of individual members' milestones.

The secured Memory Lane neighborhood provides a safe, quiet haven for those suffering from Alzheimer's or other memory impairments.

Vista Royale, our personal care neighborhood, offers a private entrance, cozy library and spacious dining area.

Chicora Medical Center's independent living carriage-style homes offer the comfort and security of private living near a physician's office, pharmacy, post office and grocery store.

As a continuing care retirement community, the Chicora Medical Center offers a full spectrum of health care services including independent living, personal care, rehabilitative nursing and care for those with memory loss. Our spacious rehabilitative therapy suite offers physical, occupational and speech therapies and boasts floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lush green rolling hills of our campus.

Our experienced and well-qualified contracted rehabilitation team specializes in the care of short-stay residents, including those healing from joint replacement surgery, stroke and post-operative recovery. Over half of those residents who choose Chicora Medical Center for rehabilitative care successfully return home.
