PENN TWP — Nixon United Methodist Church, 334 Airport Road, will host a Good Friday breakfast at 7:30 a.m. April 2 in the social hall.

ZELIENOPLE — Passavant Retirement Community has volunteer openings in its Friendly Visitor and Volunteer Greeter programs.The volunteer greeter serves as a representative for visitors and positions are available Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. or for one hour during that time frame.Friendly visitors provide a social visit for nursing or assisted living residents. and are needed from 1 to 3:30 p.m. any day.For information, call 724-453-5414.

A Pennsylvania Game Commission hunter and trapper education course must be completed by all first-time hunters before purchasing a license. Independent study courses also are available to qualifying students, followed by classroom instruction in ethics and game laws, closing with an examination.The following hunter and trapper education courses will be held in April.Traditional classroom training, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 9 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 10, Evans City Sportsmen's Club.Classroom portion of independent study course, 6 to 8 p.m. April 22, Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, Second Street, East Butler. Students must register online and complete the independent portion in advance of the classroom session.All classes being offered may be viewed at www.pgc.state.pa.us. Online registration is suggested and in some cases required. Visit the Game Commission Web site for information or to register.

BUTLER TWP — A cancer support group series will begin from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Butler Health System Heart and Vascular Center, 127 Oneida Valley Road.The series is sponsored by Butler Memorial Hospital and the American Cancer Society.The first speaker will be Dr. Hung-Chi Ho from the Butler Regional Cancer Center.The support group is free and open to the community. ZELIENOPLE — Zelienople Public Library, 227 S. High St., will begin the next session of story hours for children ages 3, 4 and 5. The session runs from April 6 to May 26.Story hour consists of stories, crafts, games and videos and may include a snack.Parents may choose from 10:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. Tuesday or 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
