Hansen 3rd at nationals

Slippery Rock University senior Jen Hansen placed third in the pole vault at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships Friday.

Hansen cleared 3.91 meters (12 feet, 10 inches).

The top eight placers in each event earned all-American honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Hansen now has earned three all-American honors for indoor track and field in her career at The Rock. She also has two all-American honors for her outdoor performances.

"We couldn't be more proud of Jen and the way she performed this year," said Slippery Rock University track and field coach John Papa. "She had to miss both seasons last year with an injury, and for her to come back and place third at nationals is an outstanding accomplishment.

Women's LacrosseAmy Halls scored a career-high nine goals in leading The Rock women's lacrosse team to a 15-9 season opening win over Converse College Thursday.Casey Quinn added three goals to the winning effort and Ashley Winkelspecht made 12 saves for SRU.
