Butler players join SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University football coach George Mihalik announced on Tuesday the addition of nine student athletes to The Rock's list of newcomers for the 2010 season, including two Butler High players: defensive back Eli Christy and wide receiver Cole Harvey.
"Cole is a fierce competitor and an athlete who can line up on either side of the ball," Mihalik said of Harvey (5-feet-11, 185 pounds) in a news release.
Harvey played a number of positions last season, including quarterback, and was a first-team selection in the Northern Six Conference, as well as a Butler Eagle Sweet 16 Defense pick.
Christy (6-1, 180) was a second-team all-conference selection after serving as a captain for the Golden Tornado in 2009.
"He's a gifted athlete with great speed and agility who can play either safety or cornerback," Mihalik said.
