PennDOT is advising motorists that a lane restriction is in place on the southbound passing lanes of the Interstate 79 bridge over Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township.

The lane restriction is a precautionary measure because an oversized vehicle struck a support beam while traveling under the I-79 bridge on Route 422.

Motorists traveling southbound on Interstate 79 will be restricted to the right lane only with the passing lane closed. PennDOT bridge inspectors are on the scene and will do a complete bridge inspection to determine what repairs will be needed.

Motorists are asked to use caution while traveling in the area.
