A group of young women hoping to become Miss America and Miss Teen America dwindled Saturday during four pageants at the Butler County Community College Succop Theater.

The first pageant featured five contestants vying to be named Miss Butler County/America.

The second featured 15 contestants vying for the titles of Miss Moraine State/America and Miss Mercer County/America.

The third featured seven contestants for the title of Miss Butler County Outstanding Teen/America, with four competing to be named Miss Moraine State/Outstanding Teen/America.

In the first pageant, Victoria Mysliwiec was crowned Miss Butler County/America.

Mysliwiec, 18, of Butler is the daughter of Thomas and Tammy Mysliwiec. She is a freshman at Grove City College majoring in biochemistry. She sang "O Mio Babbino Caro." Her platform is Hunger in the Land of Plenty.

First runner-up was Whitney Angeloni, 19, of Renfrew.

In the second pageant, Kristina Miller was named Miss Moraine State/America, with Elyse Healey crowned Miss Mercer County/America.

Miller, 19, of Venetia is the daughter of Mark and Kimberley Miller. She is a freshman at the Georgia Institute of Technology, majoring in industrial and systems engineering and minoring in economics. She did a baton twirling routine. Her platform was Democracy in Action: Ready, Set, Vote.

Healey, 23, of Oakdale is the daughter of G. Christopher and JoAnn Healey. She is a graduate student at Robert Morris University, majoring in political science and minoring in communication studies. She sang "Art is Calling Me." Her platform was Think Ability: Mental and Physical Disabilities.

First runner-up was Maria "Brooke" Miller, with Jolene Nieves as second runner-up.In the third pageant, Shannon McCarren was named Miss Butler County Outstanding Teen/America.McCarren, 17, of Butler is the daughter of Joseph and Valerie McCarren. She is a junior at Butler High School. She sang "On My Own." Her platform was Supporting the Arts.First runner-up was Caroline Holt, with Clare Stevenson as second runner-up.In the final pageant, Kaitlynne Kline was named Miss Moraine State Outstanding Teen/America.Kline, 15, of Carlton is the daughter of Mark and Kathy Kline. She is a sophomore at Cochranton Junior Senior High School. She sang "Astonishing." Her platform was A.W.A.R.E. Protection against Skin Cancer.First runner-up was BreeOnna Springer.By earning their crowns, the young women will be entered in the Miss Pennsylvania/America and Miss Outsanding Teen Pennsylva/America events, to be held in June at the Syria Mosque, Pittsburgh. Winners of those pageants will advance to the national level.Contestants were judged on interviews, talent, onstage questions and evening wear. The Miss Outstanding Teen contestants modeled fitness clothing. Miss Pennsylvania contestants modeled swimsuits.Pageant directors and choreographers were Lee Garrard, Judy Hughes and Lucy Mudrick.Emcees were Kristy Weber, 2009 Miss Butler County/America; Amber Alsop, 2009 Miss Moraine State/America; Ashley Duespohl, 2009 Miss Mercer County/America; and Shannon Chandler, 2009 Miss Butler County Outstanding Teen/America.
