Ex-NYC police boss gets 4 years in prison

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik was sentenced this morning to four years in federal prison.

Kerik was hailed as a hero after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

But he admitted last year that he lied to the White House while being vetted for chief of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

He also pleaded guilty to tax fraud and six other felonies.

Since his November guilty plea, the 54-year-old Kerik had been under house arrest in Franklin Lakes, N.J.
