ERIE — Proposed state budget cuts are taking a bite out of one of northwestern Pennsylvania's leading tourist attractions.

Officials with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources say some beaches will be closed for swimming this summer at Presque Isle State Park in Erie. Some restrooms will also remain closed.

The park, which is actually a peninsula on Lake Erie despite its name, had 4 million visitors last year.

Officials says it's unclear how many beaches will be closed because of reduced staff due to the budget cuts.
