The Steel Dragon Kung Fu and Lion Dance Team from Pittsburgh will perform a martial arts dance called "Fierce Tiger Gazes at the Moon" at the Maridon Museum's Chinese New Year celebration on Feb. 20.

PENN TWP — The Maridon Museum will celebrate the Year of the Tiger at the sixth Chinese New Year celebration.

The fundraiser is set for Feb. 20 at the Butler Country Club.

The evening will include food, Chinese raffle baskets, entertainment and dancing.

Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar, followed by hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

Music for listening and dancing will be provided by the Trinity Jazz Group.

A highlight of the evening will be the Steel Dragon Kung Fu and Lion Dance Team of Pittsburgh performing a martial arts dance called "Fierce Tiger Gazes at the Moon." Special dances have been an integral element of the Chinese culture for more than a thousand years.

This black-tie optional event benefits the Maridon Museum and its programming to educate children, teachers and adults about Asian culture.

A ticket costs $100. Reservation deadline is Feb. 17.

The Maridon houses a renovated netsuke exhibit, as well as hundreds of pieces of ancient and contemporary Asian art and Meissen porcelain.

Regular museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays; closed Mondays and holidays.

Museum admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and students, and free for children younger than age 8; children must be accompanied by an adult. Tours are led by trained docents and are available with advance notice.

The museum also has a gift shop specializing in gifts and decorative art objects relating to China and Japan.
