TV anchors report the news... they research and interview other people and create a news story. So for a news reporter to be using their cell phone even after just reporting the dangers would be plausible. That's why it is important to remember that these reporters and TV celebrities are simply talking... and not necessarily reporting the truth - just repeating what they have heard!
