Funeral for Seneca teen Barkley held today
HARMONY — The second of three funerals for the Seneca Valley teens who were killed when their vehicle went into a frozen lake near the Butler-Beaver county border occurred this afternoon.
The funeral service for Trevor Barkley, 17, of Lancaster Township was held at the Grace Church of Harmony. He was buried at the Grace Church of Harmony cemetery.
Barkley died Wednesday along with two of his classmates, Sam Bucci and Elijah Lunsford, both 18, after their SUV slid into the Zelienople-Harmony Sportsmens Club lake near Route 68 on the edge of Zelienople.
The Butler County coroner ruled all three young men died by drowning.
His casket, draped with light blue flowers, was brought out the front doors of the church to be led to the cemetery.
A Zelienople Volunteer Fire Department truck escorted the traditional funeral procession to the burial site.
The department was represented at the service by both its junior and senior firefighters and Chief Rob Reeb. Junior firefighters from other companies also attended.
