ZELIENOPLE — Several hundred family, friends and community members waited in line to enter the funeral home to lend their support as visitation began late Friday afternoon for the first of three Seneca Valley High School seniors who died when their vehicle crashed into a lake.

They began to stream into the entrance to the Boylan Funeral Home off East Grandview Avenue to pay their respects to the late Sam Bucci, who was a Seneca Valley varsity baseball player and a Zelienople Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter.

Emotions poured out as many of the teenagers, many of them junior firefighters from surrounding communities, embraced each other trying to console each other and face the sadness in the loss of their good friend.

A borough fire department ladder truck was parked outside of the funeral home with a black wreath and sash draped across its front in remembrance and in honor of the department's lost firefighters.

The somber scene will play out two more times for Bucci's friend and fellow firefighter Elijah Lunsford and their friend Trevor Barkley.

The three seniors died when the sport utility vehicle they were in slid off Ben Venue Road in Zelienople, hit a tree and overturned in a lake at the Zelienople-Harmony Sportsmens Club.

Bucci will be buried today following a service at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
