SRU loses at Clarion
CLARION — It may be desperation time for the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team.
Despite a double-double from Maron Brown and a 21-point day from Jabril Bailey, The Rock dropped its third straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West game in a 76-73 loss to Clarion Saturday afternoon.
Brown scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. But Brown and Bailey could not keep up with the Harrisons of Clarion.
Lloyd Harrison scored 20 points and Jamar Harrison added 17 for the Golden Knights (11-6, 3-1).
The Rock (12-5, 1-3) also got 16 points from Mike Evans Jr.
WomenUnion graduate Bethany Koch scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Clarion as the Slippery Rock University women's basketball team suffered another second-half swoon in a 61-48 loss to the Golden Eagles.SRU (3-14, 0-4) led 28-23 at the half. Clarion (10-7, 1-3), led by Koch, outscored The Rock 38-20 in the final 20 minutes for its first PSAC West win of the season.Julie Molloy paced SRU with 11 points.The Rock shot just 14.8 percent from the field in the second half and 23.6 percent in the game.
