My mother and father did teach me compassion..I became a nurse and I see it first hand..trust me. The suffering elderly who can't have surgery or afford their prescriptions because of medicare reform. Yea..they are dying you just don't see it. Our veterans with missing limbs who need contributions from the community to survive. These people didn't suck anything from this country they fought for it and lived through the depression. Look around at the foreclosed homes these people were working productive members of society, now unemployed. I am proud that the United States is "compassionate" to help other countries...why not help our people first...others next after our people are taken care of.
