CLINTON TWP — The township next month will have a new fee schedule for land use permits.

The township supervisors Tuesday discussed adopting the new fees.

Supervisor Mary Zacherl, board chairwoman, said the new rates would better align with the township's costs and what other municipalities assess landowners.

These fees will be increased:

• Request for a zoning change from $500 to $600

• Conditional use requests, variances and zoning hearing board appeals from $350 to $450

• Sign permits will increase from $25 to an initial range of $50 to $100 depending on the type of sign with a new $25 supplemental fee for electronically lit signs

• Appeal to the Uniform Construction Code from $100 to $200

• Planned residential review from $350 to $500

• Copies of the township ordinance book from $20 to $30.

Supervisor Jim Halstead said the township is not supposed to make money on fees, but shouldn't lose money, either.

The supervisors also are considering lowering the fee of 25 cents a page for copies of documents.

Supervisor Ed Boyd suggested a lower rate for elderly residents. His colleagues agreed to find out if there can be tiered rates for copies.

One fee will be reduced. Lot line revisions drop from $100 to $50.

The supervisors may adopt the new fee schedule on Feb. 9.
