Pa. House Speaker McCall will retire
HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania House Speaker Keith McCall decided to retire from the Legislature at the end of this year.
McCall told colleagues and staff members he will step down when his 14th term ends in December, according to two people familiar with the situation who spoke today on the condition of anonymity.
One source is a high-ranking Capitol official, the other a Democratic Party insider.
McCall's office was not confirming or denying the reports.
The Carbon County Democrat's departure ensures the House will soon have its fourth speaker in about four years.
