Cass, how many teachers do you know? How many have you asked about working summers. Did you ever attend a school board meeting? The school boards along with guidance from the state department of education set the school calanders, not the teachers. I know plenty of teachers, many in South Butler who would prefer year round school. Do you think they like to do a review for the first three weeks of a school year because most of the kids have done NOTHING educational at home in the summer?
Why do you and most of the others on here always want to insist that teachers don't deserve the money that they make because "I don't make that money in my job" You have to compare a teacher to a teacher! anything else just doesn't make sense. And the numbers don't lie, South Butler teachers make less than just about EVERY other teacher in Butler county, BUT, the results on test scores show them to be ONE OF THE BEST districts in the county! IS THAT FAIR! NO!
People have complained that the "teachers went on strike" so I am against them! Well, it takes two sides to every negotiation, and the South Butler School Board is as much to blame for that as anyone else. They are offering the teachers a raise far lower than the percentage that at least 4 other local districts have agreed to in the past three years(which will put them even further behind in pay) AND they want them to pay more for their insurance than any other district in the county! Is this area so poor that we can not support the quality education that our teachers provide? By the development in this area, I don't think so!
