ERIE — The Erie Zoo's newest orangutan now has a name: "Ollie."

The male orangutan was born Sept. 18 and went on display with his mother, Dasa, about a week later.

The zoo's staff chose the name from several proposed by children as part of a contest. Seven-year-old Ian DuFala, of Union City, has won a one-year family zoo membership, original artwork of the orangutan and a pass that will enable him to take his grade-school class to the zoo in the spring.

Ollie's mother is also mother to another orangutan at the zoo, Leela, who was born six years ago. Leela was the first orangutan ever born at the zoo in northwestern Pennsylvania.

The babies' father, Joseph, is in the same exhibit.
