PITTSBURGH — A 2-year-old triplet who was injured in Pittsburgh during the weekend died.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office said Kaiyah Beck was pronounced dead at Children's Hospital on Wednesday.

Anthony George, 20, is charged with aggravated assault and child endangerment. Police said he is the boyfriend of the triplets' mother and was baby-sitting the girls Sunday night.

George told police the girls were injured in a "domino effect" when all three toddlers fell down the stairs.

Doctors said Kaiyah suffered a head injury that isn't consistent with a fall down the stairs. The other two little girls, Taliea and Briyanna, suffered injuries including minor bruises and were released from the hospital.

ERIE — Northwestern Pennsylvania's largest city might ban cell phone use by drivers.Erie City Council was set to hold a public hearing Wednesday morning. The ordinance would have to be ratified by a second vote then signed by the mayor to take effect.The ordinance bans talking, texting or e-mailing on cell phones by anyone driving a vehicle or riding a bicycle in the city. Offenders would pay a fine of $150 to $300 that would be discounted to $75 if paid within 10 days.The ordinance would make cell phone use a "secondary" offense, meaning drivers couldn't be stopped for using a cell phone but could be cited if they were using a cell phone during another traffic offense.

IRWIN — The U.S. Air Force said a woman will be allowed to take basic training despite a tattoo that conflicts with a new regulation.Kayla Bresnan, 19, of Penn Township was sworn in for the Air Force's delayed entry program in April. Her tattoo of a theatrical mask on her right forearm wasn't a problem then. But a new Air Force regulation went into effect Nov. 25 banning tattoos below the elbow on the "saluting" arm because they aren't covered by a uniform sleeve.
