BRIDGEVILLE — Police say a Pittsburgh-area man told them he kicked a puppy to death because he was upset that the animal wouldn't behave before the start of Sunday's broadcast of the Pittsburgh Steelers game.

Twenty-two-year-old William Woodson, of Bridgeville, remained jailed Monday on a charge of animal cruelty in the 13-week-old pit bull's death.

A witness told Bridgeville police they saw Woodson kicking the dog down the street shortly after 1 p.m., which is when the game began. Police say Woodson was supposed to be walking the dog and, by the time they arrived, the animal was dead.

Police say Woodson didn't like the dog and was upset that his live-in girlfriend bought it.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Woodson.

BETHLEHEM — An eastern Pennsylvania prosecutor wants charges dropped against a couple who refused to pay a tip at a restaurant where they say they got poor service.Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli says he is recommending that Bethlehem police drop the theft of services charges.Morganelli says the matter of the $16.87 tip didn't warrant criminal proceedings against 22-year-old Leslie Pope and 24-year-old John Wagner.The prosecutor says gratuities are generally volunteer payments.Pope and Wagner were part of a party of eight Oct. 23 at Lehigh Pub.They say service was slow and unresponsive and that their party waited more than an hour for its food.Morganelli says the police commissioner has agreed to the recommendation that the charges be dropped.

BRADFORD — A husband, wife and their 9-year-old son have been found after spending the night lost in the Allegheny National Forest in northwestern Pennsylvania.State police say the three weren't injured. Their names weren't released, but police say they're from Corry in nearby Erie County.Relatives alerted police after the family didn't return from hiking. They were last seen about 2 p.m. Sunday and were located about 1:45 p.m. Monday, though police and forest officials didn't say how they were found.The forest covers 802 square miles in four counties, Elk, Forest, McKean and Warren.The National Weather Service says the low temperature overnight was 30 degrees. Temperatures were in the mid-40s Monday afternoon.The family had been hiking on a trail near the Kinzua Dam off Route 59.

UNIONTOWN — A southwestern Pennsylvania woman has been jailed on charges she used her father's identity, and those of her two young children, to try to open up dozens of credit card accounts.Police say 32-year-old Tina Price, of Uniontown, used the names of her children, ages 7 and 2, to apply for 25 credit cards.She has been charged with 64 counts of identity theft. She was charged Saturday when state constables arrested her on two bench warrants for writing bad checks.Police say Price also used her father's personal information to submit 39 credit applications in his name. Police began investigating when he got billed for a computer he never bought.
