Sunnyview union has new contract
BUTLER TWP — Union workers at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have a new contract nearly one year after the previous one expired.
Workers on Wednesday ratified Butler County's latest contract offer, ending a lengthy impasse.
The 1-year contract, which covers about 200 workers, includes a 3 percent pay raise and an employee contribution to health care benefit costs.
The employee contribution is in the form of a 1.5 percent paycheck deduction.
Kevin Hefty, vice president of long term care for Service Employees International Union Healthcare, said the voting was not lopsided.
"It was a close margin," he said.
While Hefty would not divulge the voting tally, he said more than 75 percent of the affected workers voted at the Days Inn on Route 8 south of Butler.
