Cass - a Non-Profit entity is allowed to pay it's employees. Do you think all employees at a non-profit are volunteers?? Do you think Goodwill is all volunteer workers??? The Community Health Clinic has paid employees - bet they could make more at BMH or elsewhere. Most of the people working there are volunteers. The money to operate the clinic is 100% donated by people/businesses in the Butler community. NO TAX MONEY USED. The community is not losing tax money - the paid employees pay taxes on their income, the entity that rents the space pays taxes on the rental income - unless it is donated by the owner of the building - in which case it was probably empty and not generating any income for the owner, therefore no taxes.

As for National Health Care - the politicians in favor of this call it "reform". There is no reform going on - just a grab for control of 1/6 of the United States economy. The rhetoric of "excessive" profit for health insurers is not accurate - do you know that the profit for the Health Insurers is 6% or less... Not a very good investment -this from the AP, not Fox News. According to the AP article, "Farm and construction machinery, Tupperware, the railroads, Hershey sweets, Yum food brands and Yahoo have greater profits than the Health Insurers. Profits barely exceeded 2 percent of revenues in the latest annual measure. This partly explains why the credit ratings of some of the largest insurers were downgraded to negative from stable heading into this year, as investors were warned of a stagnant if not shrinking market for private plans." This by the Associated Press yesterday (Sunday).

No where in the proposed legislation is there any mention of Tort Reform - you know, limit what the lawyers can get which is the real reason mal-practice insurance is so high. Why is that??? You don't think because most people in congress are lawyers and the president is a lawyer and they get big contributions from lawyer groups??? No, right. And, Cass, I doubt that the insurance industry is spending $7,000,000 per week to fight this legislation - I doubt they have that kind of money and their shareholders would revolt at that use of there money.
