Test your gingerbread house building expertise

This Victorian styled gingerbread house is just one example of what can be accomplished when there's a contest in the offing.

PITTSBURGH — Entries are being sought for PPG Place's seventh annual Gingerbread House Display and competition.

Registration deadline is Nov. 3, and houses must be delivered to Two PPG Place on Nov. 13, 14 or 15.

The houses will be on display in the PPG Place Wintergarden and at Two PPG Place from Nov. 20, Pittsburgh's Light-Up Night, through Jan. 7.

Individuals, families, scout troops, companies, schools and other community groups can create an entry for the display.

Awards are given in various categories, and the houses are available for purchase with the proceeds being donated to the Children's Hospital Free Care Fund.

Between house sales and an on-site donation box, the display raised more than $3,500 last year.

Information, including exact delivery times, construction requirements, and photographs from last year's exhibit, as well as registration forms are available at the Web site, www.ppgplace.com, or by calling Carla Roehner at 412-831-8253 or sending her an e-mail at ppggingerbreadhouse@comcast.net.
