Before joining Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church four years ago, the Rev. Merry Meloy had lived in eastern and central Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Although Meloy enjoyed visiting Scotland, she said traveling there also led to new appreciation for nature at home.

"Many of the woods that we traveled through were commercialized forests. They were all pine trees and it was very homogenous," she said. "It made me appreciate that in Pennsylvania, you can go to state parks and walk through areas that are virgin timber with spectacularly diverse forests."
