• The first show of the SRU theater department's season is "Cymbeline," by William Shakespeare, directed by David Skeele.

Described by Skeele as a combination of rock music and romanticism, this adaptation of a Shakespearean classic is action packed and driven by an energizing soundtrack.

The cast includes Alex Hollock of Butler and Hannah Labate of Grove City.

The production opens Friday and runs through Wednesday. Curtain is at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, at 2 p.m. Sunday, and at 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, all in Miller Auditorium.

• The university is celebrating its eighth annual Hispanic and Latino Month with events with artist Roberto Alberto, who will lecture at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in McKay Education Building Auditorium and will be working on a painting in the Carruth Rizza Hall Lobby through Oct. 23.

An SRU dance faculty concert is set for 8 p.m. Oct. 27 in Miller Auditorium, while the salsa band Azucar will offer Afro-Columbiana music from 9 p.m. to midnight Oct. 30 in Carruth-Rizza Hall.

Antonio Cortijo from the University of California, Santa Barbara, will lecture on witchcraft in the Hispanic world at 4 p.m. Nov. 2 in the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center.

Sergey Schepkin, pianist and faculty member at CMU, will give a recital performance at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the College of Fine Arts' Kresge Recital Hall. Admission is free. Call 412-268-2900.

"Henry Koerner's Pittsburgh" will run through Nov. 12 in the Chatham University Art Gallery. The exhibit highlights Koerner's tenure at Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham University) as "Artist in Residence" from 1952-53, as well as the loss of his parents and brother during the Holocaust.The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
