My brother, a diagnosed schizophrenic since 1980, has lived in many facilities; state mental hospitals and personal care centers alike. Through all of this I've seen him cope and survive, but until his most recent move to the Meadow Manor Personal Care Center, I never saw him thriving. It was at the Meadow Manor Personal Care Center that I witnessed a comradery among the residents; a consideration and caring for one another; an atmosphere that moved me to tears. To see and know that my brother had acquired a sense of peace, happiness and belonging was something this sister had been praying for 30 years.

But how could these facilities be so different? What makes Meadow Manors such a wonderful fit for my brother? His condition hadn't changed in all these years. The defining factor HAS to be the management [Dawn and Cindy] and staff. They have treated these residents with dignity and respect; sometimes not an easy task, I'm sure, given the nature of their illnesses. Their kindness, consideration and true caring has created a positive atmosphere that is felt by every resident there and reflected in their behavior. I am writing this letter to commend that management and staff on their outstanding accomplishments with these residents. I feel so fortunate to have my brother in their care.
