Battle re-enactments will be part of the events at Fort Ligonier during the 50th annual Fort Ligonier Days festival on Oct. 10 and 11. The activities honor the historic anniversary of the Battle of Fort Ligonier that took place Oct. 12, 1758. The festival begins Oct. 9.

LIGONIER — More than 125 British, French and Native American troops will arrive at Fort Ligonier for living history activities, artillery demonstrations and battle re-enactments during the upcoming 50th Annual Fort Ligonier Days.

The festival, featuring crafts, food and entertainment, will take place Oct. 9, 10 and 11 throughout historic Ligonier. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 9 and 10 with musical performances in the evenings, and noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 11.

The Butler Golden Tornado Marching Band will perform in the parade, which begins at 11 a.m. Oct. 10.

At the fort on Oct. 10 and 11, artillery demonstrations will begin at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., followed by battle re-enactments at 2 and 4 p.m. The activities honor the historic anniversary of the Battle of Fort Ligonier that took place Oct. 12, 1758.

In addition to attending the battle re-enactments and stopping by to see the British and French military encampments, visitors can tour the Fort Ligonier Museum, which houses the "George Washington Collection," a French and Indian War Art Gallery, and "The World Ablaze: An Introduction to the Seven Years' War" permanent exhibit.

Admission tickets are valid throughout the day, so visitors can stop in early to tour the museum to avoid the lines just prior to the battles.

Fort Ligonier is just off Route 30 near the intersection with Route 711 in Ligonier.

Hours of operation during Fort Ligonier Days are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
