A Family Fishing Fun event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday

at Alameda Pool in Alameda Park, off New Castle Road, Butler Township. Hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, this family-oriented program is designed to teach basic fishing skills, safety and outdoor manners. Lutherlyn in Prospect will host "Archaeology and History of the Venango Trail" from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, featuring "digging" into Lutherlyn's past along the historic trail. <B>McConnells Mill State Park</B>, Slippery Rock Township, just over the Butler County line into Lawrence County, will be the site of the 17th Annual Heritage Festival on Saturday and Sunday. The festival celebrates the operational period of the gristmill, from 1852 to 1928, and costumed vendors will display crafts inspired by this time. Bluegrass music and free tours of the mill will be offered. A Civil War encampment brings history to life, and artisans will demonstrate their skills. Admission and parking are free.
