PENN TWP — A 27-year-old motorcyclist was badly injured after colliding with an SUV on Route 8 Friday afternoon.

The motorcyclist — a Butler man who was not immediately identified — was transported by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of what officials described as serious head injuries.

Penn Township Police Officer Dennis Crawford said the driver of the SUV likely will be cited for traffic violations.
