Laugh It Up for Downtown, a fundraising event featuring comedian Billy Elmer, is planned for Sept. 26 in the Grand Ballroom at Cornerstone Commons, 201 S. Main St.

SAXONBURG — Penn's Colony Festival will feature artists and musical entertainment reminiscent of the historic time period of the French and Indian War on Sept. 19 and 20 and 26 and 27 on the festival grounds on Saxonburg Boulevard.The annual festival brings together living history, heritage, cultural traditions and educational fun.This year's festival will include: Molly in the Crowd —a six member band that entertains with songs of the 18th century; Fife & Drum Corps, and Celtic Eagle Pipes and DrumsA trial portraying the legal practices of the 1750s will also be re-enacted.Demonstrations in how to play instruments such as the keyless flute, penny whistle and stringed dulcimer are planned.

PORTERSVILLE — The Northwest Pennsylvania Engine & Old Equipment Association will present its annual Fall Apple Festival Oct. 3 and 4 at the show grounds, Route 19. Activities begin at 9 a.m. both days.Spectators can watch apples being squeezed for cider by antique equipment.On display will be old gas engines, antique farm tractors and machinery, crafts and a flea market.
