SLIPPERY ROCK — Former Slippery Rock University women's volleyball standout Jen Blasko was named 2008-09 NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association's Atlantic Region Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

She becomes the second Rock female athlete to achieve this honor in as many years. National champion pole vaulter Jennifer Hansen won it last year.

Blasko graduated from SRU in May with a 4.0 grade point average as an exercise science major and is enrolled in the university's physical therapy graduate program.

Blasko ranked ninth in the PSAC with 2.96 kills per game and led The Rock in kills, digs and service aces.
