"Across the Mon," a photograph featuring the Monongahela River and the Pittsburgh skyline, is one of the works being shown at the Shadyside Art Festival this weekend by artist Scott Davidson of Portersville.

PITTSBURGH — The 12th annual Shadyside Arts Festival on Walnut Street returns to Pittsburgh on Saturday and Sunday.

Local artists as well as a troupe from around the country will be showing their work.

Artists from Butler County include Scott Davidson of Portersville and Dennis and June Tressler of Valencia.

Davidson's medium is photography. He displays images from his travels in the Caribbean and Mediterranean regions and from trips in the western United States, as well as panoramic photos of Pittsburgh. His work is on permanent display at Butler County Community College and at a gallery in Lawrenceville.

At the Shadyside festival, he will feature 2-foot by 6-foot panoramics printed on canvas.

The Tresslers work in mixed media.

The festival artists, juried by an independent panel of judges, are hand-selected from hundreds of applicants based on quality and diversity. The artwork is original and handmade in America.

The artistic media represented will include paintings, sculptures, photos, glass, wood, jewelry, collage and ceramics.

The outdoor gallery setting will feature $15 million of artwork available for sale. Prices range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $20,000 metal sculptures.

Admission is free and open to the public. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Displays take place on Walnut Street between South Aiken and South Negley avenues.
