Ronald C. Armitage
In everlasting memory of Ronald C. Armitage
July 11, 1949 – August 24, 2008
I can't believe a year has passed
Why does time go by so fast?
I'd give anything for it to halt
And even though it's not my fault
I still find myself to blame
That time moves on frame by frame
And you're nowhere to be found
Whenever I look around
Still, the pages keep on turning and inside I keep on yearning
That, for a while, they'll pause so I can recollect
But the fires keep on burning so I never end up earning
Any chance because time cannot resurrect
Your memories won't erase
I still can see your smiling face
And the thoughts we shared and words we spoke . . .
Just this morning I awoke
And realized it's been a year
Since the last time you were here
And it all just seems so wrong
That time without you moves along
Still, the pages keep on turning and inside I keep on yearning
That, for a while, they'll pause so I can recollect
But the waters keep on churning so I never end up earning
Any chance because time cannot reconnect
I can't believe a year has gone
For one whole year I've journeyed on
Without you somewhere by my side
And, since that day, I've really tried
To let myself understand
That somehow all of the was planned
But every step I take I find
That time's left me a step behind
Still, the pages keep on turning and inside I keep on yearning
That, for a while, they'll pause so I can recollect
By now, I should start learning that I'll never end up earning
Any chance because time will not redirect
