Moraine State Park will be the site of a "Star Gazing Party" at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Join the park naturalist and members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh for a hands-on star gazing party at the bike rental station on the North Shore. AAAP will have several telescopes to try out. "Bike and Learn" will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Meet at the bike rental station on the North Shore. "Explore the Source," a kayaking tour of Muddy Creek, begins at 10 a.m. Sunday. Join the park naturalist at the upper 528-boat launch, off Route 528. Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528 near the intersection of Routes 8 and 173, Slippery Rock, will be the site of a "Basics of Navigation" session with a GPS unit at 10 a.m. Saturday. The 90 minute hike will explore the natural and cultural history at Jennings and will uncover the unique qualities of the park with the navigational tool. Participants also will learn about the history of navigation and how a GPS unit can enhance the outdoor experience. A limited number of GPS units will be available; personal units are welcome. <B> McConnells Mill State Park</B>, Slippery Rock Township, just over the Butler County line in Lawrence County, will have a Summer 2009 Heart Hike, led by a park naturalist, along the millstream on Sunday<B>.</B> Old Mill hours through Labor Day at the restored rolling gristmill are from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Interpretive tours of the historic mill, which include a corn grinding demonstration and last about 45 minutes, will be available at 1 and 2 p.m. Fridays and 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
