PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing the Pittsburgh Public Schools because she says other students bullied her daughter about her weight, causing the girl to develop anorexia.

The woman and her daughter are not identified in the federal lawsuit filed Monday.

The woman claims several boys harassed her daughter while she was a student at Frick Middle School starting when she was in sixth grade in 2006-07. The woman says she complained about the abuse, but school officials didn't stop it and, further, harassed her when she tried to home-school her daughter.

The girl was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for an eating disorder in February 2008.

The school district's attorney says he will give a vigorous defense against the suit.
