VALENCIA — Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, will hold a festival for children ages 4 through fifth grade from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

There will be games and crafts. Lunch will be provided. Parents can stay or take this opportunity to enjoy a free day. Supervision will be provided.

The cost is a donation to Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child. Donations can include a small gift that would fit in a shoebox (must be new) or a monetary gift.

CONNOQUENESSING —Connoquenessing United Methodist Church has a permanent paper recycling bin in the parking lot.Area residents are encouraged to use the bin to recycle paper and magazines. No telephone books or cardboard boxes are allowed.

CRANBERRY TWP — The second annual Pigskin Palooza flag football tournament will start at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Rose E. Schneider Butler County Family YMCA. The event is hosted by 19north, a youth ministry within Victory Family Church of Cranberry Township. Teams can have up to 10 players, with at least one female player.First-place winners will be announced around 5 p.m. All participating teams will be recognized while winners will be awarded at the 19north services held at 8:30 p.m.For information, contact Victory Family church or visit www.19north.tv.

FAIRVIEW TWP — A peach festival will be held by Karns City Methodist Church, 117 Petrolia St., from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 29. Peach desserts will be available, along with a chicken and biscuit meal. For information, call 724-445-3385.

BUTLER TWP — VNA Hospice Services will hold its second annual Beyond Memories community butterfly release from 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Succop Conservancy on West Airport Road. The conservancy will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m.Participants can purchase a butterfly to be released during the ceremony in honor of or in memory of a loved one.Call 724-431-3372 by Aug. 21 to receive a butterfly.
