In loving memory of my son Derek DiGregorio, whose innocent life was tragically taken six years ago today, August 16th, 2003.

I always took for granted,

What I thought I'd never lose.

Because I never thought it would happen,

Until I heard the dreaded news.

They say you were chosen for His garden,

His preciously hand picked bouquet.

God really needed you,

That's why you couldn't stay.

Saying goodbye is never easy,

It's the hardest thing to do.

But what hurts me even more,

Is not having the chance to say it to you.

So today, Jesus, as you are listening

In your home above;

Would you please find Derek

And give him all my love.

Though your life was cut short,

Which I can't explain,

The memories and pride you gave me will always remain.
