Actually, you are incorrect about that. My cousin retired from the military and his wife (who worked forever and is eligible for insurance thru her employer, but would have to pay) was never in the service and she goes to the VA for everything, so you don't have to serve to be covered, which I don't think is right.

And (OMG) I agree with you. Single payer means single payer. It is ridiculous for the Congress to think they should have a different plan than everyone else has. If it's so great, then why aren't they in on it as well?

..and who is turning up for those meetings? Most people work for a living. I'm not taking a day's vacation to go to that meeting and listen to a bunch of old fools who don't even know the issues and believe Sarah Palin, that the elderly will be killed so they don't cost a lot to cover. Some of the ridiculous statements that are going around are unbelievable, yet people believe it.

The Freedom First Coalition is run by a guy who is completely funded by the insurance companies. They are the ones behind the rhetoric - the insurance companies have a big stake in this and they don't want it to pass because they are pocketing millions. It all comes down to the almighty dollar for the millionnaire CEOs. They run this country and it's time that people realize it. Some of the puppets in Washington are in their pockets and whoever gives them the most money for their relection will get their vote. I just pray that the use their conscience.
