NEW YORK — Tim McGraw and the Black Eyed Peas are scheduled to perform before the NFL season opener.

The NFL announced the musical artists Wednesday for the game between the Super Bowl champion Steelers and the Tennessee Titans in Pittsburgh Sept. 10.

McGraw and the Black Eyed Peas, both three-time Grammy winners, will hold a free concert open to the public at Point State Park.

Natasha Bedingfield, Keith Urban and Usher performed before last year's opener.

SAN DIEGO — Jeremy Tyler completed his jump from high school underclassman to pro basketball player Wednesday when he signed a one-year, $140,000 contract with Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Premier League.Tyler, 18, is the first American-born player to leave high school early to play basketball professionally overseas. The 6-foot-11, 260-pound Tyler announced in the spring that he was skipping his senior season at San Diego High because prep basketball had become boring.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Tony Dungy thinks Michael Vick will be back in the NFL this season, maybe even this week. He's still not saying where the 29-year-old free agent quarterback will land or how many are interested.In a telephone interview with The Associated Press Wednesday, Dungy said Vick will be working from a small list of teams because many do not want to risk a potential backlash from fans.Dungy has been involved with prison ministries for years and now serves as Vick's personal mentor.

NEW YORK — Boston star Kevin Youkilis and Detroit pitcher Rick Porcello were suspended for five games each and fined by Major League Baseball Wednesday, a day after their brawl at Fenway Park.Youkilis began his suspension during Wednesday night's game against Detroit. Porcello appealed and no penalty will take effect until the process is complete.MLB vice president Bob Watson cited Youkilis for charging the mound, throwing his helmet at Porcello and inciting Tuesday night's bench-clearing tussle. Porcello was penalized for intentionally throwing pitches at Victor Martinez and Youkilis.In addition, Detroit pitcher Edwin Jackson was fined for aggressive actions.
