JACKSON TWP — Firefighters remained this morning at the scene of fire that tore through a large warehouse containing two businesses on Route 68.

"We'll be there most of the day to babysit the thing," said Tim Sapienza, chief of the Harmony Volunteer Fire Company.

Jackson Police Chief Len Keller said, "It's going to take some time to get inside. But the building is so heavily damaged, we don't know if we're going to find anything that can help the investigation."

Destroyed were Plant Growers Workshop, a garden supply distributor, and Zack Products, a records management company.

The fire started shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, caused more than $1 million damage, and left nearly two dozen employees without jobs.

Investigators don't know what caused the blaze that sent more than 100 firefighters from 10 departments to the 38,000-square-foot steel structure near Route 528.
