NEW YORK — A New Jersey State Police official said divers found the wreckage of a plane that collided with a sightseeing helicopter over the Hudson River.

Lt. Albert Ponenti said today the single-engine Piper was found in 50 feet of water about 250 yards from the New Jersey side of the river.

New York police spokesman Paul Browne said divers returned to the water as of 2:45 p.m. after suspending the search because of poor conditions.

Two bodies of people who were on the plane remain missing.
