Food
There are many responsibilities of great Americans. One such responsiblility is the need to be aware of issues that are important to us and make sure that we are paving the right path for our future. Recently I have become aware of major flaws in the food industry, such as allowing the sale of artificial ingredients and chemicals that have been outlawed in most of Europe, and allowing the genetic modification of foods so that they can be oversprayed by pesticides and herbicides. The chemical industry is also off-base, by allowing chemicals linked to cancer and neurological disorders to be put in baby lotions and shampoos. For a short time, a documentary titled "Food, Inc." is playing at the Regal Cinemas. I strongly urge anyone who eats to see this movie. Maybe you cannot change everything you eat, but in a world of extreme expansion of childhood epidemics, it may be worth while to be informed and at least make gradual changes. We cannot trust the store shelves to make the best decisions for our families. It is up to us, yet again.
