VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Pittsburgh NorthStars U-17 boys soccer team, featuring four players from Mars, won the U.S. Club Soccer national championship last week.

The team began tournament play in May and was one of 2,300 U-17 boys teams vying for a trip to the national tournament.

The NorthStars are comprised of players from North Allegheny, Mars, Hampton, Shaler, Pine-Richland, Gateway, Montour, Deer Lakes and Indiana school districts. The Mars players, Michael Page, Ryan McKenzie, Tanner Panza and Tim Frigot, were members of the Planets' 2008 WPIAL championship team.

SEWICKLEY — Butler's John Aubrey Sr. won the senior stroke-play event during the Sewickley Heights Open Monday, shooting a 73.Mars High graduate Brian Routhieaux won the tournament's amateur event, also shooting a 73.
