BOYERS — Up to 30 cats will be sent to the Humane Society in Pittsburgh today after being found with several other emaciated animals that had been abandoned.

Penny Dewoehrel, a humane officer with the Volunteers with All American Ponies, Inc., received a complaint call about a house on Venango Road, but Dewoehrel would not disclose the address.

Humane officials found two horses, two donkeys, three goats, 30 cats and five dogs.

"The cats are emaciated and diseased," Dewoehrel said this morning. "They all have severe infections. The goats were emaciated. It was extremely unsanitary."

There were five dead kittens which had been there a long time.

Dewoehrel said the animals were on their own since the couple that lived there broke up several months earlier.

The call came in last week while the animals were removed a couple days ago.
