CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Chamber of Commerce will merge with another regional chamber at the end of the year, forming one of the largest chambers of commerce in Western Pennsylvania.

The Cranberry chamber will officially merge with the Northern Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce Jan. 1. The two chambers will represent more than 1,000 members after the merger.

The two chambers also will remain separate entities and operate under separate budgets for the remainder of this year. Both chambers' board of directors voted Friday to support the merger.

A transition board will be formed consisting of representatives from each chamber that will work to insure a smooth transition and merger at the start of next year.

A news release issued by the Northern Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce said both entities will retain offices at their current locations and, although the merged chamber will be much larger, many networking events will remain localized.
