NEW CASTLE — Ryan Prokay of Grove City carded a 75 in Thursday's final round of the American Junior Golf Association tournament at the New Castle Country Club, giving him a three-round 230 to tie for 23rd place out of 78 golfers.
Brett Rinker of Slippery Rock fired an 81 to finish at 234 to tie for 36th place.
Zhong Yang Fu of Bradenton, Fla., won the tournament with a 5-under par 211.
In the girls division, Jenna Rinker of Slippery Rock fired an 80 to finish 11th with a score of 250 while Marissa DeCola of Center Township shot an 87 to wrap up at 252 for a tie at 13th place.
Mayko Chwen Wang of Taipei, Taiwan, shot a 77 for the second consecutive day for a total of 234, edging Juliet Vongphoumy of Providence, R.I. by one stroke for the title.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Lou Holtz, who led Notre Dame to its last national championship in 1988 and also coached William & Mary, North Carolina State, Arkansas, Minnesota and South Carolina during his 33-season career, will be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.He will be joined by fellow coaches John Cooper, the only coach to win a Rose Bowl with both a Pac-10 school (Arizona State) and Big Ten school (Ohio State), Jim Donnan, who coached at Marshall and Georgia, and former Missouri Valley coach Volney Ashford.Former UCLA quarterback Troy Aikman, 1959 Heisman Trophy winner Billy Cannon of LSU and former Oklahoma State tailback Thurman Thomas head the class of 17 players being enshrined during two days of festivities today and Saturday.
