FREEPORT — The 16th annual Freeport International Baseball Invitational takes place next week on six fields.
Japan is the only country outside of the United States participating in this year's event.

Swartz Field in Freeport again will serve as the primary facility, with games also taking place in Ford City, at the Highlands High field, Springdale, Tarentum and Kittanning Township.
No teams will be eliminated from the tournament and no trophies will be presented. Teams will play as many games as it is possible to schedule to fulfill the FIBI slogan, "for the love of the game."
The annual old-timers game will be played at 8 p.m. Thursday at Swartz Field. A home run derby takes place there at 6 p.m. next Friday.
Next Saturday will feature a futures tournament for 11- and 12-year-olds, along with a 5K run through Freeport, a USA vs. The World game and fireworks.
